Leading teams through automation adoption

Track: Band 7 test management. Programme hours: 112.5 to 150.

Outcomes: people management at Practitioner, and medical device software regulation at Working, applied to automation adoption: team development plans, supplier testers, and regulated testing records.

Evidence: folded into the Band 7 test management capstone (Module 16), with the Automation strategy and metrics work.

Activities

  1. Hours 200.5–208: map your team's current skills, using the roles-skills self-assessment exports for each person's role level and, where team members are in this programme, their latest agreed ratings (with their consent).
  2. Hours 208–215.5: draft the team development plan. Hold a one-to-one with each team member about their part in it.
  3. Hours 215.5–223: find out whether any product in your area is regulated as a medical device, and what testing records its life cycle needs (for example under IEC 62304). Talk to the quality and clinical safety leads.
  4. Hours 223–230.5: draft the adoption plan, including supplier testers and regulated records.
  5. Hours 230.5–238: review both with the head of test, then carry them into the capstone.

Team members' ratings are personal data. Use them only with consent, show them only in aggregate outside one-to-ones, and never use them to rate performance.
